Professional & Personal Life

The Honorable Darrell A. Miller was the first African American male Mayor of the Town of Capitol Heights. He served as a full time Mayor for the Town for the period 2006-2010. He is married to Glenda Miller of 17 years and has a daughter Andreana Miller who is his pride and joy.

Darrell Miller is a graduate of Strayer University and did further studies at Howard University in Washington, DC. He has also studied and earned certificates in Leadership Development from the National League of Cities and is an Academy Fellow of the University of Maryland's Institute of Local Governance for the Maryland Municipal League.

Darrell is working hard to make a difference in our community, especially in the pursuit of his primary issues of seniors, youth, family, housing, economic development, and cultural enrichment. He is a public servant who is committed to serving the needs of the residents of the Town of Capitol Heights, Maryland and the State of Maryland. He has lived in the Town since June 1996 and worships with his family at the Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Current Role

Darrell Miller currently serves on the Executive Board of the Capitol Heights - Seat Pleasant Boys and Girls Club Inc., as its president and as Legislative Director of Men Aiming Higher. He is a former member of Maryland Black Mayor’s where he served as Vice President and a former Board Member of Prince George County Municipal Association.

As a newly elected Council Member, he will bring to this position a wealth of experience and knowledge based upon his tenure as a former Mayor and former Council Member. His understanding of economic development is a distinctive one, in that he has had the opportunity to view this issue from the perspective of a citizen and former elected official. He has provided unwavering support to the seniors, people with developmental disabilities and all residents in general.
